- Abstract
Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS) is traded on the NYSE and is subject to the same legal requirements imposed on much larger organizations. Yet its modest size enables it to make decisions more quickly, making it a unique laboratory for organizational development (OD) intervention. CVPS's executive team has made OD a focal point of its talent management strategy. This decision was driven by pressure to meet rising customer expectations, at lower cost with a stretched workforce, and in anticipation of a talent shortage. As a result, OD has contributed significantly to achieving desired business results.
