- Abstract
Tharticle is investigates the social function of journalism through the Tambury Gazette, fictional representation of a free, local printed newspaper in a small town in the United Kingdom, in the Netflix series After Life series. With subtext about issues such as journalism as a media company and the work routine of a newspaper, we observe the relationship of the protagonist journalist with the modest newspaper where he works, as well as the relevance of the vehicle to his community and his target audience, the elderly. In addition to the administrative, professional and deontological aspects addressed, it's possible to highlight a more general aspect problematized by the series: the individual effort of professionals to renew the journalistic field, especially from the relationship between reporters Tony, a veteran in the job, and Sandy, a beginner.
