Marginal Cost Pricing in Practice.
- Authors
Peirson, Graham
- Abstract
The French electricity authority (Electricité de France) introduced a new tariff— the 'tarif vert'—for high-voltage electricity supplies in 1957. In this book Professor Nelson has brought together a series of interesting and important articles most of which are concerned with the theory and practice of the 'tarif vert'. The importance of these articles stems from the fact that the 'tarif vert' represents the first serious attempt by a public utility to apply marginal cost pricing in practice. In addition to the chapters on the 'tarif vert' the book includes some interesting articles on the problem of investment planning in an electricity undertaking. Most of the papers contained in this book were previously only available in French; consequently Professor Nelson has performed a very valuable service for those people interested in the subject of marginal cost pricing.
