- Abstract
This article examines the migration of the first Mexican families in Utah and their relationship with the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City from 1911 to 1947. The author analyzes historical records from the consulate and other sources to study over 250 families, documenting their origins, occupations, and dates of arrival in the United States. The Mexican population in Utah found support from the consulate during this period, as many sought refuge due to the Mexican Revolution. The article emphasizes the significance of ancestral lines and migratory networks in facilitating settlement in Utah, and provides detailed information about specific families. Additionally, the document presents a genealogical study of two Mexican families, the Mora de León family and the Rosales Bautista family, who established themselves in Utah. The study traces the family history of each generation, including their origins in Mexico and their migration to Utah. The families had ties to industries such as the railroad and mining in Utah. The study also highlights the role of the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City in supporting Mexican immigrants during this time.
