The article offers an ideological profile of Nobel Prize-winning economist James M. Buchanan Jr. It is inferred that Buchanan received his Nobel Prize for the development of the contractual and constitutional bases for the theory of economic and political decision making in 1986. The views of Buchanan about classical liberalism are outlined.
