- Abstract
The article reports on enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) serotype disease of O 157:H7 which is associated with the outbreak of haemorrhagic colitis in humans and livestock. It focuses on the characteristics of E.coli O157:H7 such as antibiotic resistance, thermal inactivation, and inability to ferment sorbitol within 24 hours. It discusses several preventive measures which require the control of the food chain from agricultural farm, vaccination, and slaughtering of infected animals.
