Esthetics: Harmony Without Symmetry.
- Authors
Dalloca, Luca L.; Iafrate, Roberto
- Abstract
The article discusses esthetics in dentistry, which is related to harmony and balance in the composition of the face, lips, tissues, teeth, and personality. These days patients do not want a perfect smile, but a natural look. They want teeth that are individual and which highlight their personality and facial vitality. In the last few years, dental researchers have worked towards improving esthetic restorative materials. It is informed that the color, shape, and tissues have to be kept in harmony with the facial composition when prostheses are inserted in the patient's mouth. Some dentists think that the key to making restored teeth look natural is to avoid symmetry.
