- Abstract
This article discusses the challenges of financial crises, poverty, and environmental sustainability in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the impact of the pandemic on extreme poverty and emphasizes the need for strategic steps to achieve sustainable development post-pandemic. The article argues for a new eco-social contract that includes marginalized groups and emphasizes the urgency of saving and sustaining the environment. It also presents a case study on the resilience of small-scale fishing communities in Bali as an example of how innovative strategies and community involvement can help recover from a crisis. Overall, the article calls for a global transition to achieve a livable planet through reducing poverty and climate change in synergy with an eco-social contract.
