- Title
THE CONSTITUTIONALITY OF RELIGIOUS SYMBOLISM AFTER MCCREARY AND VAN ORDEN.
- Authors
Smith, Douglas G.
- Abstract
The article examines how the Establishment Clause restricts state actions. The Supreme Court ruled that the public display of religious items does not violate the Establishment Clause, as illustrated in the cases of McCreary County v. American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky and Van Orden v. Perry. The article states that the clause is designed to help states preserve the right to maintain established churches without federal interference.
