- Abstract
In Argentina, Benito Quinquela Martin (1890-1977) developed a significant career as a mural painter. In 1936, he started painting panels to decorate schools, soccer clubs and hospitals among other places. He painted on hardboard the work at the port and the ships in Riachuelo, La Boca. This was held in the context of a new mural painting movement that conjugated art and politics. The aim of this article is to analyze his proposal in the context of the emergence of other contemporary mural painters and to focus in the diversity of people he worked for.
