- Abstract
The article describes a study on the birds that inhabit Hass avocado agroecosystems in the departments of Caldas and Risaralda, Colombia. A total of 168 species belonging to 19 orders and 42 families were recorded, including five endemic species and four classified in some threat category according to the IUCN. Although species richness is lower than in less intervened ecosystems, native forests associated with agroecosystems can become important areas to complement conservation efforts for various species. The study highlights the importance of conserving these native forests to protect biodiversity.
