- Abstract
The author utilizes literature and origins from the archives. The collection of documents examined come from the monastery archives, stored in Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv in the fond 201, of the Greek Catholic metropolitan consistory. The author refers to the everyday life and holidays of the Orthodox and the uniate, the clergy and the believers in the end of the pre-Partition and Partition epoch. A great role was played by the Orthodox Church fraternities in the everyday life and holidays of the Orthodox and the Uniate. The fraternities, though, were the stronghold of the Orthodox Church, and took precedence over the Orthodox clergy who, amongst others, enjoyed a lower authority. The monarch's policy, which was aimed at subjecting the Orthodox Church to Rome, was thus unfavourable towards such associations.
