The article presents information on the creation and history of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities. The Union came into being in the town of Brandon, Manitoba on March 14th, 1905 and by 1910 had a membership of more than 100 municipalities. The members were concerned about interference from the federal government, jurisdiction, taxation revenue, unfair practices by telephone companies and other municipal level problems.
