- Abstract
An essay is presented discussing the relationship between film festivals and African motion pictures, both as international venues for the curation of African films and as local venues for African films within the continent. Topics addressed include the unique role of the film festival in sponsoring certain film genres and features, the categorization of African films in international festivals, and the methodologies and underlying philosophy of the discipline of film studies in general.
