- Title
Book Review: The Zulu-Boer War, 1837-40 by Michał Leśniewski.
- Authors
Beckett, Ian F. W.
- Abstract
It did strengthen the Swazi and led ultimately to a greater British presence in Natal, which is characterized by Le'sniewski as the most significant result of all for the future of South Africa. In that sense, as Le'sniewski argues, the war had only short-lived repercussions, the Zulu reclaiming lost territories, and the Voortrekkers concentrating their efforts beyond the Vaal. Inevitably, there is some speculation regarding Zulu motivations and the Zulu relationship with other African chiefdoms that had a bearing on the conflict, such as the Swazi.
