- Abstract
The article presents a conference paper by Gary C. Jacobson of the University of California, San Diego, delivered at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association in New York on September 1981, in which he discussed the topic "Strategic Politicians and Congressional Elections: 1946-1980." It is posed that evidence is reported aiding the theory that the strategic behavior of political elites creates the connection between national economic conditions and political candidates.
