- Abstract
The prohibitive function of skatole over trypsin was studied by using ultraviolet spectroscopy and fluorescence spectrometry. It was found that skatole resulted in the increasing of UV absorption, and led to the quenching of intrinsic fluorescence of trypsin. The quenching constant Kq of pepsin obtained through stem-volmer plots is 2.72 x 1012 L/mol · s. It was showed that the quenching of skatole on trypsin was probably a static quenching process.
