- Title
Does Gender Influence the Terms of Small Business Loans?
- Authors
Largay, III, James A.; Xiaodong Qiu
- Abstract
The article presents an overview of research on how gender influences the terms of small business loans in a major Italian bank during the years 2004 to 2006. Researchers Andrea Bellucci of the Università di Urbino, Alexander Borisov of Indiana University, and Alberto Zazzaro of the Università Politecnica delle Marche examined how borrower and lender's gender affect loan agreements and found women borrowers had stricter credit limits that were not necessarily related to loan officer bias. The difference between interest rates for male and female borrowers in the context of women loan officers' procedures is discussed.
