- Abstract
In Ecuador, the watermelon crops is affected by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum, because this research was conducted in order to determine the productivity of following three commercial hybrids, Royal Charleston, American Switt and Verde grafted on the pumpkin rootstock Ercole, Shintoi, ZadoK RZ, from November 2012 to February 2013. The experimental design was a Blok at random with the factor A was the hybrids. Nine controls were employed: 3 total control (without treatment), 3 with chemical products and 3 with biological control with Trichoderma harzianum. The results showed that the new technology allows obtains a sustainable production without chemical treatments. The hybrids Royal Charleston grafted on Shintoi produced 61, 9 t/ha and on Ercole 57,3 t/ha. The medium fruit weight and the quality parameters satisfy the commercial requirements at the ecuadorian market. All control treatments showed symptoms caused by Fusarium sp. and nematodes. The grafted plants rise a sustainable fruit production near 60 t/ha.
