- Abstract
Compared with industrial hydrogen production methods, photocatalytic decomposition of water for hydrogen production has the advantages of clean and pollution-free. In order to overcome the shortcomings of catalysts in the process of photocatalytic decomposition of water to produce hydrogen and improve the hydrogen evolution efficiency of photocatalysts, researchers have summarized some of the latest improvement methods for three types of photocatalysts : TiO2 photocatalyst, transition metal sulfide photocatalyst, and g-C3N4 photocatalyst, mainly including morphology regulation, element doping, noble metal precipitation, and the synthesis of composite photocatalysts. The photocatalytic decomposition of water to produce hydrogen is still limited by hydrogen evolution efficiency, cost factors, and complex catalyst construction methods. Finding suitable cocatalysts at an appropriate price, designing more practical means of constructing photocatalysts, and obtaining photocatalysts with higher hydrogen resolution efficiency are still the directions that researchers need to focus on.
