- Abstract
While occupational health and safety (OHS) practices in the workplace bring a regulatory, preventive and financial obligation to businesses, successful management of OHS contributes both to the productivity of employees and to the reduction of job stress. In this respect, the effect of OHS practices on job stress on the basis of its sub-dimensions was investigated. In addition to this relationship, the differences between OHS practices and job stress perception in terms of demographic variables were examined. As a result of the research, it was determined that job stress decreased as the measures and precautions provided by the management on OHS, employees working according to OHS criteria, awareness and consciousness levels increased. OHS training was also found to be effective on job stress, but this effect was relatively less. In addition, it was found that the cooperation and communication between management and employees on OHS did not affect job stress. When the relationship between demographic data and job stress was analyzed, it was observed that employees between the ages of 26-30, high school graduates and employees in managerial positions had higher levels of job stress.
