An interview with Harold W. Kroto, winner of the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is presented. He stresses the importance of interdisciplinary approach in addressing scientific questions. He emphasizes on how the public can be convinced about the importance of research. He says that the demise of Bell Labs indicates that the short-sighted capitalist pressure has worked to the detriment of research in industry and society.
