- Title
Stem cells: Big roles for small RNAs.
- Authors
Slack, Frank J.
- Abstract
The article reports on the study which finds the role of microRNAs in the differentiation of the embryonic stem cells. It cites the function played by microRNA in regulating the gene expression, its discovery in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, and its crucial role in the biological processes in the multicellular organisms. It also discusses the involvement of the genes let-7 and lin-28 in the cell differentiation. Moreover, it notes the findings' prospects in regenerative medicine.
