The article focuses on the book "Treatise on the Astrolabe," by Geoffrey Chaucer. Topics discussed include the possible inspiration behind the quoted philosopher present in the book, Chaucer's source for the quotation being a Latin medical treatise, the "Practica brevis," attributed to Johannes Platearius, and several British manuscript witnesses of the "Practica brevis" dating from the thirteenth and fourteenth century.
