The proposed method of heat treatment of materials with a bicomponent fibre increases their air permeability. The permeability of needle-punch materials is a function of their resistance to compression by the air stream. In describing air flow in needle-punch and treated materials, use of the pore volume per unit of mass and area of the sample as the structural parameter is optimum.
