- Abstract
Describes the investigation on an outbreak of malaria which occurred in Palm Beach County and Okeechobee County in Florida during July-September 2003. Three outbreaks of local mosquito-borne transmission that have been reported since the 1950s; Reason Florida often is perceived as vulnerable to the reestablishment of endemic malaria; Importance of proper smear preparation and accurate microscopic evaluation in conforming a case of malaria suspected as acquired through local mosquito-borne transmission.
