- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's (USSC's) ruling in the 2005 case Kelo v. City of New London and the impact of the court's decision on eminent domain takings authority in America. It states that the USSC upheld the Connecticut Supreme Court's judgment which allowed the City of New London to use eminent domain for the purpose of economic development. The Public Use Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the nation's Constitution is mentioned. Takings precedents are assessed.
