- Title
MORVERN CALLAR, ART CINEMA AND THE 'MONSTROUS ARCHIVE.'.
- Authors
Caughie, John
- Abstract
The article focuses on the film adaptation and art cinema "Morvern Callar," directed by Lynne Ramsay as a film that confuses the notion of national cinemas as well as national identity as expressed through cinema. It notes that the involvement of Glasgow Film Fund in the film's production shows the disorienting economic alignment of enterprise, employment and investment. It stresses that the biggest fault of the film is its translation of the Scottish name Morvern Callar into Samantha Morton.
