- Abstract
In order to improve the flame retardancy of polystyrene (PS), carbon fiber (CF) was used to modify PS to prepare thermal insulation flame retardant PS/CF composites. The mechanical properties and thermal stability of PS/CF composites were studied. The results show that with the addition of CF, the flame retardancy, mechanical properties and thermal stability of PS/CF composites are continuously improved, and the thermal insulation performance is reduced. With the increase of CF content, the thermal conductivity of PS/CF composites increases gradually, the flame retardant performance increases continuously, the compressive strength, tensile strength, fracture bending load and impact strength increase gradually, and the thermal stability increases. When the content of CF is 8%, the comprehensive performance of PS/CF composite is excellent and meets the relevant standards of building insulation materials. The thermal conductivity of PS/CF composite is 0.035 9 W/(m·K). The flame retardant performance of PS/CF composite reaches B1 level. The compressive strength, tensile strength, fracture bending load and impact strength of PS/CF composite are 110 MPa, 0.15 MPa, 25 N and 1.1 kJ/m², respectively. The dimensional stability of PS/CF composite is 0.9%, the initial thermal degradation temperature of PS/CF composite is increased by 50 ℃, and the mass residual of PS/CF composite is increased by 26.9%.
