- Title
Revival and Reconciliation: The Anglican Church and the Politics of Rwanda. By Phillip A. Cantrell II.
- Authors
Ward, Kevin
- Abstract
Missionary work was undertaken by the CMS Rwanda Mission, a semiautonomous offshoot of the Anglican Church Missionary Society. The American supporters of the present Anglican Church in Rwanda have largely replaced the original missionaries, who, whatever their defects, were truly embedded in the tragic paradoxes of Rwanda's history. The dominant, Catholic Christian tradition in Rwanda has developed a much more sophisticated and nuanced tradition of critical self-reflection, and Cantrell rightly urges the Anglican Church to begin to develop such a tradition for itself.
