- Title
Effects of furazolidone and its metabolites on hepatic drug metabolizing enzymes in rat and chicken.
- Authors
Nobuo Sasaki
- Abstract
The author focuses on the effect of N-(5-nitro-2-iurfurylidene)-3-amino-2-oxazolidone (furazolidone) and its metabolites on hepatic drug metabolizing enzymes in chicken and rat. He informs that western blot analysis of hepatic cytochrome P450 (CYP) isozymes induced by furazolidone has revealed that it induces CYP1A1 apoprotein. He mentions that the elevation of furazolidone metabolism is related with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-oxidase cytochrome P450 reductase in chickens.
