- Title
Modification of the existing maximum residue level for metribuzin in olives for oil production.
- Abstract
In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation ( EC) No 396/2005, the evaluating Member State ( EMS), Spain, received an application from ADAMA Agriculture España S.A., to modify the existing maximum residue level ( MRL) for the active substance metribuzin in olives for oil production. To accommodate for the intended uses of metribuzin, Spain proposed to raise the MRL from 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg. Spain drafted an evaluation report in accordance with Article 8 of Regulation ( EC) No 396/2005, which was submitted to the European Commission and forwarded to EFSA. According to EFSA, the data are sufficient to derive an MRL proposal of 0.2 mg/kg for the use on olives for oil production. Adequate analytical enforcement methods are available to control the residues of metribuzin in olives. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concludes that the proposed use of metribuzin on olives for oil production will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference values and therefore is unlikely to pose a consumer health risk.
