- Abstract
The authors discuss archaeological projects of political import in the Old City of Jerusalem, particularly in the village of Silwan. They recognize the historical and religious importance of ancient Jerusalem, emphasizing the significant role of archaeology impacting the dynamics of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The two aspects of archaeological excavations tied to the political conflict in Jerusalem are noted, which are the appropriation of land to be excavated and the focus on the past.
