- Title
"Wir wollten etwas lernen" – Interview mit Ulrich Pöschl.
- Abstract
The chemist Ulrich Pöschl and his colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz have developed a ventilation system using DIY store parts to make classrooms safer during the coronavirus pandemic. However, the researchers' main goal remains atmospheric and climate research. The initiative for the development of the ventilation system came from a physicist at the institute, whose wife is a teacher. The Max Planck Institute does not sell the systems and therefore does not know exactly where they have been installed. Pöschl finds it regrettable that only a few classrooms have received ventilation systems or air filters, but sees this as a result of federal structures and school authorities. He hopes to be able to return to normal work in a few weeks, but does not believe that the coronavirus pandemic will be over by then.
