- Title
HIPAA Privacy Standards Raise Complex Implementation Issues.
- Abstract
The article presents an abstract of the paper "HIPAA Privacy Standards Raise Complex Implementation Issues," by Paul R. DeMuro and W. Andrew H. Gantt, published in the January 2001 issue of the periodical "Healthcare Financial Management." According to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act the U.S. Health and Human Services Department was under a mandate to issue standards to protect the privacy of electronically transmitted personal health information. Health care organizations must prepare for the publication of final regulations on the issue, which will require the implementation of new processes and information systems to comply with the law.
