- Abstract
The development of low cost airline companies is a new age phenomenon, which stems from the freedom of entering new markets. The first low-cost carrier, named Pacific South West Airlines, appeared in the USA in 1949. After the American LCC, a similar one was formed in Europe in 1995 - Easy Jet. Easy Jet's main trait was their lower transportation cost, compared to airfare prices of regular airlines. The emergence of low cost air transport introduces numerous advantages for the development of tourism in a country. With Serbia's last year's acceptance to the Schengen's white list, barriers preventing the arrival of LCC have been partially eliminated. Therefore, an increase of interest in operating in our market is expected from these transportation companies in the future.
