- Abstract
This article presents a study conducted in Hong Kong that examines the relationship between different peritoneal dialysis (PD) modalities and various outcomes in patients undergoing PD. The study found that automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) had a lower risk of peritonitis compared to other continuous ambulatory PD (CAPD) systems. APD also had a lower risk of emergency department visits compared to UltraBag® and Disc System. However, there was no significant difference in all-cause mortality, cardiovascular death, and technique failure among the different PD systems. The study also suggests that further research is needed to understand the impact of sex on the relationship between PD modalities and mortality.
