- Abstract
Objetivo: Avaliar a adesão à higiene das mãos (HH) entre profissionais de saúde em uma unidade de terapia intensiva (UTI). Métodos: Estudo observacional realizado por um único observador em UTI de um hospital universitário em agosto de 2017. A avaliação foi baseada nas oportunidades definidas segundo os cinco momentos recomendados pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS). Uma relação do percentual de adesão dos profissionais foi elaborada por meio da divisão entre o número de oportunidades de higiene de mãos aproveitadas e o número total de oportunidades identificadas, multiplicado por 100. Resultados: Um total de 1161 oportunidades de higiene das mãos foram observadas, e em 677 houve a prática de HH, taxa de adesão de 58,32%. As taxas de adesão foram menores antes do contato com o paciente. Das 384 oportunidades avaliadas, houve a prática em 107, taxa de adesão de 27,9%. Antes de um procedimento asséptico a adesão foi de 58%, sendo 200 oportunidades e 116 práticas. A maior taxa de adesão de 98,7% foi após contato com fluídos, sendo 155 oportunidades e 153 ações. Após contato com o paciente a adesão foi de 87,3%, com 236 oportunidades e 206 práticas. Após contato com superfícies do paciente, taxa de adesão de 51,1%, sendo 186 oportunidades e 95 ações. Conclusão: A adesão à HH dos profissionais de saúde foi baixa na instituição, principalmente nos momentos de menor risco ao profissional, porém de grande chance de transmissão de microrganismos.
