- Abstract
The aim of this article is to conduct an exploratory study of the role of digital narratives (DN) as a new educational strategy. Several authors have shown that the use of DN encourages different capacities in students allowing the achievement of additional advantages to conventional reading and writing processes; furthermore, they develop the skills inherent in digital media and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and encourage a thoughtful look of the topics discussed in class. Method: The methodology applied consisted of a bibliometric analysis carried out in the Scopus database through a structured search equation. One hundred sixty-one articles were obtained which were analyzed through bibliometric indicators of quantity, quality and structure. The dynamics of the most important keywords and emerging, declining and nascent fields in the study area are also presented. Results: Some important results show that there is a growing interest in the subject being 2012 the most productive year in the period under review. In the bibliometric quality indicators session authors generating greater impact on the subject and journals with more publications are: Lecture Notes in Computer Science and Digital Education Review. Besides structural indicators that measure connectivity between publications, authors and knowledge areas that are associated with social network analysis were presented. These indicators showed that networks of authors are scattered and poorly consolidated and that new authors who start adhering to the field adhere through the already existing networks.
