Distal radial fracture repair in adult horses.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the repair of distal radial fractures in adult horses. These fractures are challenging to repair due to their complexity and limited bone purchase. In foals, fractures of the radius are more reliably reconstructed. The article explores the use of locking compression plates (LCPs) as an alternative to external fixation and the concept of biological fracture fixation. The case report presented in the article demonstrates the successful healing of a fracture while preserving part of the carpal range of motion. The article emphasizes the importance of careful fracture reduction and the prevention of infection in fracture healing.
