Floppy iris syndrome manageable with the right viscoadaptive OVD.
- Authors
Cimberle, Michele; Schultz, Jared
- Abstract
This article reports that the right viscoelastic can affect the outcome of a cataract surgery with intraoperative floppy iris syndrome, according to surgeon Gerd U. Auffarth. Through his expertise in the technical application of ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVD), Auffarth found that Healon5 can play an effective role in managing this complication. He notes that an OVD strategy is safer and more effective than other intraoperative tools. He cites the drawback of using a viscoadaptive OVD.
