The article focuses on the contribution of Egyptologist Frédéric Cailliaud on ancient Egypt antiquary studies. It started his interest in the said field when he stayed and worked in Egypt as mineralogist from 1815 to 1822. It cites his success in discovering the ancient emerald mines as well as in tracing the paths to the Red Sea. His efforts in publishing his discoveries are also reported.
