- Abstract
The article explores the temple Shanhoor near the town of Qus in Egypt. It notes that the temple which literally means the lake of horus is devoted to a female Egyptian deity. It states that the construction is likened to Greece-Rome with inscriptions dating back to the rule of the Roman Emperors Claudius and Hadrian. The large area around the temple is sheltered by an enclosure wall and supervised by guardians. It mentions the unusual features of the temple such as a passageway around the sanctuary and a staircase up to the roof. In addition, a mosque can be found to the north of the temple dating back to the Fatimid Period.
