- Abstract
The article presents an overview of the sociohistorical circumstances at the time of the origin of a particular school exercise book, describes the school in Kančevci and analyses the content of the exercise book, trying to find an answer to the question as to how did the later Partisan and patriotic songs in the spirit of national liberation find themselves in a Hungarian school exercise book (from 1941/42) next to the Hungarian alphabet. We are dealing here with the Prekmurje region during World War Two, when the area was occupied by Hungary. The exercise book with the Hungarian title Irófüzet and some elements of the Hungarian state symbols on its covers, contains the Hungarian alphabet with individual Hungarian words, and surprisingly also the Yugoslav anthem Hej Slovani and the patriotic songs Tovariš Tito, Pozdrav Titu, Svobodna Slovenija and Nabrusimo kose.
