- Title
A Class Act? Regulating Organohalogen Flame Retardants in Groups versus Singly.
- Authors
Seltenrich, Nate
- Abstract
The author reflects on a commentary published in the issue which suggested that the use of flame-retardant chemicals in flammable consumer goods may in some cases amount to trading one risk for another. He discusses the limited ability to conduct extensive and timely testing for hundreds of organohalogen flame retardants (OFRs), compounds that are proposed by some as a safer alternative to OFRs, and comments from Linda Birnbaum, co-author of the commentary.
