- Abstract
The article discusses relations between Hungary and Austria in the first two decades after the Second World War. The author provides an extensive chronological narrative in which the diplomatic, economic, and trade relations between the two countries are situated both within their respective domestic political contexts and within the international context of the Cold War. Topics addressed in detail include the border between the two countries, the effect of Austrian neutrality, as agreed to in 1955, on Austro-Hungarian relations, and the attitudes toward foreign policy in general within the Communist party of Hungary.
