The article discusses the distinctions between the services received by married and unmarried persons in the U.S. for various purposes such as taxation and government benefit distribution. Topics discussed include claims related to unconstitutional violations of equal protection and due process under due to marriage; U.S. courts' rationales and constitutional analyses in these cases; and existence of benefits that advantage married couples compared to singles.
