- Abstract
An essay is presented which examines how law students benefit and develop through interaction with incarcerated individuals and the public defender field. The author discusses his work supervising public defender interns and Washington University School of Law Clinic participants. He goes on to comment on how early interaction with individuals experience desperation and bewilderment can influence a law student's character and values.
