- Authors
Mirkin, Dina Comisarenco
- Abstract
The article focuses on the mural cycle titled "La Creación" by the painter Diego Rivera. It explains that the work began the Mexican art movement in the 20th century and describes the planning, intent, and controversial aspects of the painting project. The influence of previous art styles, such as Christian iconography and fauvism, are noted and it is suggested that the negative responses to the mural were rooted in the subject matter rather than the style.
