- Abstract
In France, the wine tourism economy is facing fundamental challenges, in terms of both increasing tourist numbers in wine-growing regions and stimulating the sale of wine products. Despite the wealth of wine tourism in France, what many stakeholders offer is still difficult to read on the national and international markets. The main development models worldwide show a great range of key success factors (including Australia, Spain, Portugal, Chile, and Canada), making it difficult to discuss the existence of a relevant and universal business ecosystem. Our research thus provides a theoretical framework in order to fuel our discussion (the business ecosystem approach) and to allow for the consideration of development paths specific to our regions, and more specifically to our field of study, the Loire Valley in France. The conclusions remain mixed: there is no reliable business ecosystem in the Loire Valley, no leader emerges, and there is no shared vision and preservation of the label in the long term.
